Between 2006 and 2008, I co-taught (together with Dirk Gindt) a part of the undergraduate degree in Gender Studies at the Center for Gender Studies, Stockholm University, Sweden. We aimed at providing Gender Studies majors with a Cultural Studies perspective on gender and sexuality, as well as performativity in a wider context. For this purpose, I engaged the students with some contemporary and historical material on drag queens and cross-dressing in a theatrical context. The class was lecture-based and evaluated through a take-home exam where the students chose a cultural object and analyzed it through the lens of the class, relating the class literature to the object of their choice.
